A beautiful creation from the enamellers’ workshops in Limousin, this applique Christ in repoussé copper, attached to a cross, is a triumphant Christ (straight body, eyes open). Wearing a crowned and dressed in liturgical clothes (a blue dalmatic over a tunic with red polka dots), he was both king and priest. This type of clothed Christ is rare among the Limousin Christs, who often wear a simple loin cloth. Inscriptions on the back of the cross give the history of the work in the 19th century.
