Apply for a vacancy
The vacancies currently open for application are listed on the Choisir le service public website. Only applications specifically addressing a particular vacancy that is currently open for recruitment will be considered. Unfortunately, we are unable to respond to unsolicited applications that do not match the profile of a declared vacancy.
Your application must include:
- a handwritten cover letter
- a full CV including personal details, precise details of qualifications and specific periods of employment.
The Musée de Cluny mainly recruits permanent staff through the civil service system, either through transfer or secondment. It also combats all forms of discrimination in its human resources policy.
To apply, please send your application to: Musée de Cluny, Recrutement, 6, place Paul Painlevé, 75005 Paris.
If your profile matches what we are looking for, the museum will contact you to arrange an interview. If you do not hear from us within six weeks, please assume that we are unable to proceed with your application at this time. Furthermore, unless you indicate otherwise, we will retain your application for consideration for future opportunities.

Do an internship at the museum
The National Museum of the Middle Ages accepts interns subject to an internship agreement between the educational institution (school, university, etc.) and the museum. However, the museum’s capacity to accommodate interns is limited, primarily due to the availability of workspace. Internships must last for a minimum of one month. Barring exceptional circumstances, they may not exceed two months and are unpaid.
Given the high number of applications for internships in the conservation departments, only applications from students currently in their third year of undergraduate study or first year of postgraduate study in History or Art History are likely to be considered favourably at this time.
Pupils wishing to undertake a work experience placement (secondary school) must send us their CV and cover letter at the start of the school year, so that we can organise the placement schedule effectively. Students who do not reside in France must provide proof of insurance covering the risk of accidents during their placement at the museum and whilst travelling between their home and the museum.
To apply, please send a cover letter specifying the area of interest and the educational institution you are affiliated with, along with your CV, to: Musée de Cluny, Stage, 6 Place Paul Painlevé, 75005 Paris.
If your profile matches what we are looking for, the museum will contact you to arrange an interview. If you do not hear from us within six weeks, please assume that we are unfortunately unable to accept your application for an internship.
