A couple of lovers
The companion piece to this mirror case, held in Baltimore (USA), features the first part ("prenes") of the text that can be seen here on the banner ("en gre"): the two characters depicted make declarations of their love to each other, which they implore each other to accept graciously.
Both are dressed in the attire of the early 15th century.
The man wears a houppelande with wide sleeves gathered at the cuffs, while the lady’s sleeves, trimmed with fur, hang down to the ground. The "roll" hairstyle of one is echoed by the hood draping over the shoulder of the other.
