Final scenes of the story of Der Busant
This tapestry represents the final episode of a German courtly poem, the "Story of the Busant", which tells the adventures of a princely couple from whom the bird (a buzzard, or "busant") steals a ring.
Divided into two parts, the piece shows the tournament the young couple is attending, followed by their departure.
Several other museums, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, hold pieces that depict episodes from this story.
