This tapestry was part of the larger " milles fleurs " (A Thousand Flowers), of which "The Crop of Grapes" survives, often rather substantially edited. Our sample, adorned with arms, has preserved its colours, with a remarkable light play on the clothing. Peasants perform their traditional work, closely supervised by the lords. Historians will find the detail, tools, clothing and demeanors to be precious notes. The 1500s style points to Parisian production, particularly the production of printed books.
