RESEARCH LIBRARY

The research library provides the public with a wide range of literature on all artistic fields of the Middle Ages. Nevertheless, the uniqueness of the resources is the arrangement and improvement of files on the arts works that are part of the museum’s collections.

 

The Collections  

More than 3,500 files of art works and more than 200 thematic files.

  • 15,000 written works, part of which are resources of catalogues from museums both in France and abroad as well as exhibition catalogues and 17 subscriptions to periodical journals.

  • Research tools: inventories; sales catalogues; archive resources of Geneviève Souchal on 14-16th century tapestry.

  • 10,000 photographs of the collections’ works, with more than 3,000 prints of these works by comparison.

  • 1,800 ancient photographs.

  • Professionals from museums in France and abroad.

  • Researchers, teachers and students.

  • Cultural partners of the museums (cultural mediators, experts, journalists...).

  • Anyone interested in the museum’s collections.

Services offered by the Research Library

  • Consultation on writings, documentary files and photgraphs, on site only.
  • Assistance with custom research. Bibliographic services.
  • A computer workstation at the disposal of the reader to consult databases.
  • Six advice offices available by appointment.
