Paris 1400, Art During the Reign of Charles VI
Paris, Louvre Museum- 26 March - 12 July 2004

While the political situation in France became more and more difficult during the reign of Charles VI (1380 - 1422), Paris, capital of the kingdom, made a name for itself as a first-class hub of intellectual and artistic pursuit. This exposition will illustrate the artistic activity of a somber yet exceptional era. Three hundred of the most beautiful examples of 15th-century Parisian production, particularly manuscripts, painting on wood, stained glass and drawings will be on display. The goldsmithing, remarkable by is refinement, will occupy a place of honour through a grouping of objects enamelled in gold.
Such important subjects as architecture, interior decorating, sculpture, textiles and pageantry round out this tribute to the late Middle Ages.

Along with other artefacts, the Museum will be lending the following items:
Reliquary painting of Saint Geneviève,
Paris, ca. 1380 - Stamped and gilded silver, translucent basse-taille enameling on silver.
